ST JOSEPH’S
ABUSEMENT PARK

Abusement Park is a great group of guys that enjoy playing hoops. They are our Champion Team of the Week because of their fun play and their success. They are the Men's B league Champions. In addition, they didn’t lose a game all year. Apparently there is some truth to their explanation of their name—they made up Abusement Park because they "have fun beating up on the opposition". And it looks like the abuse will continue next year as this group of juniors, together since freshman year, will work to repeat their success. Good Luck!

DETLEF SHRIMPS

The Detlef Shrimps play in homage to their proclaimed “best NBA basketball player ever”. This is their first year playing together and they are great sports. They have a good time on the court and are competitive enough to make a game of it. When asked for an interesting fact about their team, they commented, “We win.” Nothing like a little confidence to improve your game…These guys are our Champion Team of the Week because they embody what IM sports are all about–have fun, be competitive and be a good sport. Enjoy your hoodies and “stay sweet.”

STAFF INFECTION

Staff Infection is our pick for Champion Team of the Week because of their enthusiasm for intramurals. They aren’t slackers on the court either— they have also set several records. This group has been together for 2 years and came up with their name because they all work together for housing. You may wonder what kind of housing when you hear their quote— “Pimpin ain’t easy. It’s emotionally hard.” What isn’t hard is for this group to come together as a team and put points on the board. They once scored 100 points in a basketball game. Now that kind of scoring is infectious!

TEAM JARED

Team Jared is our Champion Team of the Week because throughout the intramural season, they consistently showed great sportsmanship. You may think that a group of 1st year Graduate Med School students wouldn’t have a lot of extra time for extracurricular activities like intramural basketball, but not only did Team Jared show up, they competed. They made it to the championship game. The final score didn’t turn out in their favor (35-47), but we’re hoping they can take consolation in their new Champion hoodies. Great work guys!

This Co–Rec team has been playing together for 2 years and competes together in flag football as well. Ladies & The Tramps continues to be a very competitive team all season and has earned an impressive winning record. Throughout the basketball season, this team has displayed excellent sportsmanship and teamwork and has represented what Intramural Sports is all about — having fun!

TOM’S MAILMEN

Tom, the close friend of this IM basketball team was sent to do mail services in Iraq. This team’s namesake is one way the teammates decided to pay tribute to their friend Tom while he serves overseas. There’s no doubt that these players demonstrate good sportsmanship and spirit on the court in honor of Tom. Many of Tom’s Mailmen grew up and went to school together. They wholeheartedly believe by working as a T.E.A.M., Together Everyone Achieves More. Thanks Tom and fellow Mailmen for playing like Champions.

XPLOSION

This team of roommates have been together for just this year, but showed enough teamwork and sportsmanship to be named Team of the Week. They say that they “xplode” on the court so you better watch out…especially when they yell “Hit it from the red line!”

THE HUSTLAHS

Practice makes perfect and The Hustlahs are almost there! This team has been together for 4 years and has 3 championship mugs. In their words, “We run BC basketball.” They also run themselves—they credit their success with practice, practice, practice…and some hustle. Team member Kali Galvin inspired their name—they said that “she’s a hustlah and we decided to follow in her ways.”
