CHAMPION TEAM OF THE WEEK PROGRAM

Check back weekly throughout the season to see which team from your school has been named the Champion Team of the Week. Being selected as a Champion Team of the Week is all about how you play: sportsmanship, spirit, participation and fun are what we’ll be watching for. Winners will enjoy their 15 minutes of fame in the comfort and style of new Champion hoodies. You can pick your school by using the menu to the right.  (arrow pointing right)

WEEK 4 – TEAM OF THE WEEK

w04-utenn

University of Tennessee

The Has Beens

The Has Beens have some history together. They were all rivals in high school and decided they wanted to relive their “glory days”, so they decided it would be fun to play together. They also thought they would have a pretty good chance of winning. Their most memorable game was when they played the Lady Vols Managers in the semi finals last year. The whole Lady Vols team came to watch and the whole gym was cheering for them. The Has Beens ended up beating them by like 2 or 3 and then went on to win the championship.

The Has Beens have exhibited great sportsmanship throughout the basketball season and they also have a great attitude toward the game. In their words, “HAVE FUN!! We don’t do cheers, stacking it up or practice!! We just love to play!” It is for this reason that they are our Champion Team of the Week!

WEEK 3 – TEAM OF THE WEEK

Arizona State University

The Pink Panthers

The Pink Panthers aren’t a group of bumbling sleuths. But they do know how to laugh! They are a group of women that has kept a positive outlook and has had fun on the court, even though they never walked off with a victory. This is why they are our Champion Team of the Week.

This is the first time playing together for most of their team, but a couple of them played together in high school for a year or two. They are all Native Americans and some of them grew up in or around the same community. Their one team ritual is to shake hands with their opponents after the game, win or lose.

WEEK 2 – TEAM OF THE WEEK

Drexel University

Kim 2.0

Kim 2.0 was selected as the Champion Team of the Week for their sportsmanship and attitude throughout their game vs. The RECers! They maintained a positive attitude and enjoyed the experience! As you may have suspected, there was a Team Kim before Kim 2.0 came around. They have actually been together for about 5 years and they have always maintained a team ritual of just playing to have fun, although every now and then they do go out for ice cream after the game! Their most memorable game was actually during their first year together. They beat a really good team in the playoffs. We hope they can reach those same heights this year!

WEEK 1 – TEAM OF THE WEEK

w01-purdue2

Purdue University

The Semekh Chapter of Acacia B

Acacia B has been selected as Purdue’s Champion Team of the Week for many reasons. The team showed a lot of composure as the game got closer; they heightened their game to new levels. The new levels included having more fun and kept the tight game at a level of fun for all to enjoy! Their sportsmanship didn’t go un-noticed either. They have played together for only a week, but it’s their brotherhood that allowed them to transfer group cohesiveness to the courts! It also didn’t hurt to have the Lucky Orange and Blue Starberry Shoes. Despite Jonas shooting “funny” and an unnamed someone “smelling bad”, these guys are on their way to a successful season. This game will go down in the books as not only their first, but probably their most memorable until they win a Championship!
