SUPERCHARGERS
The SuperChargers are a team well–named…they went 6–0 for the season and won the CoRec Competitive Division. They have also had perfect sportsmanship throughout the entire season. It’s no surprise that they are our Team of the Week! This team just came together this year, but they are no strangers to the basketball court. All the ladies on the team work for the Sun Devils Women’s basketball team. In fact, two of them played college ball. The guys are part of the scout squad that plays against the Sun Devils Women’s basketball team. They all thought it would be fun to get a co–rec team together — fun for them, maybe but not their opponents!
THE JAYHAWKS
Why is there a team named The Jayhawks in Sun Devil country? Well, the team captain is a native of Kansas—apparently you can take the boy out of Kansas but you can’t take Kansas out of the boy. The Jayhawks are Champion’s pick for Team of the Week because in the last week won in a blowout and also had a tight game that ended in a tie. In both games they were respectful not only of the officials, but also their opponents. They came with the right attitude and it improved the spirits of the other people participating at the time. They are also a humble group of guys—when asked what makes them unique, they were stumped…”nothing really…we’re just pretty average guys.“ Champion begs to differ.
SKIDDOO
Champion is excited to have a team like 23 Skiddoo wear their hoodies. This team has been together for 3 years—but they don’t just play basketball. Each team member excels in a different sport and all the others join in for whatever is in season—Elise is great at soccer, Lissa is a force in basketball and Jessica rules the court in volleyball. The best part is that they all have fun, regardless of what they are playing. And what can you expect to hear when they break from their huddle? Anything! Apparently they yell the first thing that someone comes up with. Fun fact—these gals managed to win a game with just 4 players– now that is something to watch out for!
TEAM LOCO
Team Loco is just the kind of group of guys that Champion likes to see in their gear. They named themselves Loco because they felt that best described the way they play on the court—they dive after loose balls and go all out on every possession. It also describes the way they live their lives—to the fullest.
Team Loco has been together 3-4 years and they are all seniors—this is their last shot at the Championship. They have been close in the past and they have made it their mission to be the ones wearing the Championship t-shirts this year…and with a guy nicknamed Troll Baller, how can they lose?
