C-Whistlers
The C-Whistlers claim that “if you ain’t first, you’re last.” Well, they weren’t last this week—they are our Champion Team of the Week. The C-Whistlers have been together for one year. Where did they get their name? Apparently it came from Peter Tang’s favorite country music band, the Country Whistlers. Quite an interesting group—their diverse interests will take you to the basketball court, the local country hoedown and then, finally, to Wall Street. They own 10% of the Starbury Corporation, you know!

7 Seconds or Less
Our Champion Team of the Week is 7 Seconds or Less. They are a team that plays with heart, not height—their tallest player is 6’0”…6’1” on a good day. This doesn’t deter them, however. They are smart enough to play to their strength—speed! This is their second season together. They said they chose their name because we are all small, fast kids and we like to run teams off the floor. So we modeled ourselves after the Phoenix Suns who used the motto 7 seconds or less, meaning they would push the ball up the floor and take a shot using up 7 seconds or less off the shot clock. Because we liked to run, we felt it suited us well. Their team motto—you could have guessed—“Little guys with big hearts.”

ZACH’S GIRLS
Zach’s Girls are the Team of the Week because they show a great work ethic on the court and always arrive on time. They have only been together for a couple of weeks but that was long enough to catch the attention of the IM department. They named their team after their coach and wanted to add, ”We heart our coach.“ Their team quote is, ”How are we all single?“ Now at least they can be attached to their new Champion hoodies! Congratulations!

THE MATHLETES
The Mathletes embody what Champion is all about—they were chosen as the Team of the Week because The Mathletes are a good group of guys that love basketball. They are always positive with each other, the opponents, the referees, and the IM program in general. But the game isn’t all they are about…in fact, they are all very good at math—now the name makes sense, right? They also tell us that they are outstanding students and citizens. Their humor is exposed when they reveal their team quote: “That’s a foul.”

THE HUSTLAHS
Practice makes perfect and The Hustlahs are almost there! This team has been together for 4 years and has 3 championship mugs. In their words, “We run BC basketball.” They also run themselves—they credit their success with practice, practice, practice…and some hustle. Team member Kali Galvin inspired their name—they said that “she’s a hustlah and we decided to follow in her ways.”
