THUGNIFICENCE
”Stop hatin’ on all this Thugnificence and get money !“ This is the rallying cry for our Team of the Week. These guys have been a team, ”since day one.“ They are united by a common bond—as illustrated by their name—Thugnificence. They were all raised in the hoods of Bloomington, Indiana (who knew?!). They don’t just reserve their talents for the basketball court, however. They also are known for stacking paper to the ceiling. Apparently these gentlemen have some extra time on their hands…
SILVER CHEETAHS
The Silver Cheetahs are this week’s Team of the Week, and not just because ”silver cheetahs are only the most dangerous animals in the universe.“ These guys are not new to the game and according to them, they have been a team since the beginning of time. If you ever hear, ”A…Ya dig!!!“ you know you’re in Silver Cheetah country—one filled with young, fly and fashy guys.
THE GYPSY LADIES
Champion’s Team of the Week is The Gypsy Ladies. They were ranked at #3 in the top 6 of the Women’s I Division. Putting up a fight all the way through the playoff tournament, they came out on top by beating the #1 seed in the Division. The Gypsy Ladies have been together for 6 months and feel they embody the gypsy spirit. Their group is made up of 10 basketball players and 1 former cheerleader. Their team quote is, ”We steal the ballÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡and your man.“ They also steal victories—as this year’s Women’s I Division Champions!
CHRISTIAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
Indiana’s Team of the Week is Christian Student Fellowship. This great group of women not only plays together but they live together! They have been together for 4 years and most of them live at the Christian Student Fellowship House on campus. They field a team every year—and they do it successfully—with 2 championships in the past three years! Their team motto is “As for us and our House, we will serve the Lord”. Champion is proud to recognize this team for its great ethics, on and off the court.
THE HILLCOCKS
The Hillcocks are a great choice for Team of the Week at Indiana. After completing the regular season with a record of 0-3 they were seeded against a 3-0 team in the first round of playoffs. The Hillcocks put up a great fight and showed great sportsmanship during a game that was being called against them. They came out with a victory against an undefeated team and advanced to the next round in the playoffs. This was quite a feat for a team that has only been together for 4 months.
