WVU Ballerz
The WVU Ballerz has been together for 3 years and they have seen their share of success. In fact, they are this year’s overall champions for Intramural basketball! This group of hard-working players has a great work ethic, demonstrated by their team motto, “We hold it down all day everyday!” They also have fun with the game and with each other—you may even hear them utter, “Book ‘em, Dano.”

P Block
P Block is out to “Shock the Nation!” Well, they made a good impression on us! They were picked as the Champion Team of the Week because of their competitiveness, as well as sportsmanship. They make the game look fun and exciting. That’s where the “Shock!” comes in. Here’s some more “shock”… their big guys shoot more three-pointers than lay-ups! This group of guys has been together for 3 years— the team captain just called up his buddies from high school and they agreed to play. Now being together for that long doesn’t ensure harmony… they say that they argue a lot, but they get the job done. And done well, we say!

THE TRUTH
Here’s your Champion Team of the Week—and that’s The Truth! The team, we mean. The Truth was picked based on their positive attitude and fun–loving nature during games. They have also proved a model team when it comes to sportsmanship. They have been together as a team for about three years but they are all from the same general area in the Upper Ohio Valley (Weirton and Follensbee) so they have known each other for about 10 years or so, from high school and college. Each year they choose a different team name, just to change things up. When asked about their team quote they said, ”We really do not have a team quote. But considering our poor record and nice team shirts, I guess you could use something like…even though we don’t win all our games, we sure look good doing it.“

MERCURY
Champion’s Team of the Week is Mercury. They were chosen for their teamwork and consistent sportmanship ratings. Mercury has been together for three years, but it didn’t start here…The story as they tell it is that they got their team name because most of the original members were from an AAU team called the Meteors, which they all played on together for years. They wanted to keep a name similar to that so they decided on Mercury and kept the color red. And we’re sure their opponents see red as Mercury lights up the scoreboard!

RAIN
RAIN is in their second semester of reigning supreme on the courts—they haven’t lost a game yet! They are our Champion Team of the Week due to their outstanding sportsmanship. RAIN has played in both of the basketball leagues this year and have shown exemplary teamwork on the court. Their team members hail from four different states but they play like they have been doing it forever. They deem themselves as the first team to make it rain on the basketball court by shooting three pointers. And their team quote, what else…’When it rains, it pours.‘

KINGS & QUEENS
Kings & Queens is our Team of the Week because they are a talented team that always looks like they are enjoying themselves. They have great chemistry on the court and are also a team with excellent sportsmanship. Their team name came from the idea to celebrate the fact that they play in the co-ed league. If you catch them in action, you may wonder what the M.T.X. E. on their jerseys means… Mental Toughness eXtra Effort, which summarizes their focus and intensity for each game.
